Overview: The Uganda National Council for Science and Technology (UNCST) was established in 1990 by Act of Parliament (CAP 209 of the Laws of Uganda) as a semi-autonomous government agency to advise, develop, implement policies and strategies for integrating Science, Technology and Research development in Uganda.
The line ministry for the Uganda National Council for Science and Technology is the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation - Office of the President.
UNCST Mandate: To develop and implement policies and strategies for integrating Science and Technology (S&T) into the national development policies; to advise the Government of Uganda on policy matters necessary for promoting S&T and; coordinating and guiding national research and development (R&D) in Uganda.
Vision: A science and Technology Led Country
Mission: To provide effective and innovative leadership in the development, promotion and application of science and technology and its integration in sustainable national development.
Council Secretariat: Comprises the Executive Secretary and a team of technical and administrative support staff.
