5th Governing Council for UNCST

It is an honour and a privilege to serve as the Chairperson of the 5th Council of Uganda National Council for Science and Technology (UNCST). I step into this role with great humility and a deep appreciation for the critical role science, technology, and innovation play in shaping the future of our nation.

As we navigate an increasingly dynamic global science, technology and innovation (STI) landscape, at UNCST we remain steadfast in our mission to provide an enabling regulatory environment and platform for the development, commercialization and integration of STI in Uganda’s socio-economic development process.

The 5th Council is committed to working closely with UNCST leadership, public sector actors, academia, research community, the private sector, and development partners to support research and professional excellence, foster innovation, and ensure that scientific knowledge is translated into practical solutions that address Uganda’s most pressing challenges. I look forward to this journey of growth, collaboration, and impact.

The Council comprises of eminent scientists drawn from ministries, departments, agencies, research instititions, institutions of higher learning and private sector, who are appointed by the Honourable Minister responsible for science, technology and innovation.  The 5th Council of Uganda National Council for Science and Technology (UNCST) was inaugurated in August 2024.
